Also, hard disk space feels like it would be an issue with SD3, it's so huge! The price is fine at $150 or whatever it is, and the step up to Superior Drummer is considerable. I have tried the EZdrummer demo, and it sounds great, but it's also very limited. I want to make music with a more natural acoustic feel (as opposed to super polished and processed), so a vst that would work for that would be preferable. I'm looking for something that works well with external triggering, and that can be tailored to work with my recordings, so things like "muffling" individual drums, access to several ride and crash cymbals, etc would be great. I have added EZdrummer 2 to the cart, and was just about to pull the trigger - but I wanted to check with you before I do something I'll regret.

PS my answer was much more rough, but I decided edit it because you can't force people to receive your help.I'm looking for virtual drums for triggering my electronic drum set. I'm not sure why people think that they will get their problem solved better on some random internet forum. )))))Īnd the topic starter has my personal contact, and had personal support previously. I mean - literally ZERO issues reported during several years in a FB group.

Honestly, it is a shame. There were zero report like that on FB user groups - the place where the mimic user concentration is close to 100% I would have much preferred the Mimic but Superior is a must have due to their quality of samples and continual library expansion. I ended up cancelling my Mimic order and went Roland because of the Superior Drummer problems. Yamaha, Roland, Alesis, 2box, ATV, etc all work fine with external VSTs so there should be no reason Pearl cannot do the same. When I started researching the Mimic with Superior it became evident there were some serious issues. There are times when a module is just faster and easier but there is so much content and flexibility off-boarding to VSTs. I ordered the Pearl to be able to have the best of both worlds i.e. There should be no reason for the higher latency and interoperablility issues people are having with the Mimic and Superior drummer. One should not have to choose between the on-board Slate samples or nothing on a two thousand dollar module especially considering the Pearl library is not being expanded. Do I have to adjust that just like in a module, to fit my playing style? I sort of assumed that since I was triggering to the module, then sending MIDI to SD3, that the trigger sensitivity would be more influenced by the module, but maybe not. The last thing is the sensitivity is pretty poor. If I hit the bow or edge and move the pedal, it does respond, but not to pedal input alone (e.g., no foot splash). I can see it registering MIDI notes when I move the pedal, but no sound is produced. I see where it is, and when I press "Calibrate" I get the instructions to close-open-close the hi-hat, but nothing really happens. The other thing is the hi hat set up doesn't seem to be working.

#Superior drummer 3 vs ezdrummer 2 how to
I can't figure out how to get the cymbals to choke, though - if I try to use the "learn" function, it just sets the mute sound to a normal crash, if that makes sense (i.e., I play a crash and get a mute). I did have to change my splash cymbal to trigger "Cymbal 3" instead of whatever tom sound it was mapped to. Most of the drums are what they are supposed to be. I've gone ahead and loaded the Mimic MIDI map, which is a pretty good start. Anyone have a good resource for setting up a module with SD3? I did look over the instructions and a couple of other sites, but I think it is still somewhat over my head and am still not happy with where the triggering is at.
